Nihilent Limited released nSEPIA on August 28, 2026. This AI-driven tool for detecting emotions and improving wellness is available globally on Android and iOS.

nSEPIA enables individuals to understand their present emotional state and then offers a personalised next step to help them move towards greater emotional balance.

Unlike some wellness tools that offer a general library of content, this app starts with the user’s immediate state. This data guides the suggested response.

Users start with a brief interaction via the device camera. Using Emotion AI, nSEPIA analyses subtle spatial and temporal movement patterns across the face and eye region, together with head and upper-body movement, to assess the user’s emotional state.

The assessment is processed on device to protect user privacy.

The Science Behind the Software

The app runs on Emoscape, which is a medical-grade platform that uses artificial intelligence, computer vision, and machine learning within its proprietary, patent-protected framework.

This framework is based on Navarasa principles found in the Natyashastra. Scientific and academic research has evaluated the platform’s ability to assess human emotions objectively.

While Emoscape was built for professional and institutional contexts, nSEPIA brings these tools to the general public.

This approach differs from typical mood journals that rely on a person’s ability to name their feelings. By using visual data, the software removes the guesswork often found in self-reporting. It replaces subjective memory with immediate observation.

nSEPIA then recommends personalised interventions across music, breathwork, yoga and meditation. After engaging with the intervention, the user can reassess their emotional state and observe the change.

Music options include Indian classical ragas, Western symphonic music and specially created compositions. Its meditation, breathwork and yoga experiences draw on established Indian traditions, including practices influenced by the B.K.S. Iyengar tradition, and have been shaped with inputs from relevant experts. Guided reflection provides an additional way for users to engage consciously with what they are feeling.

Professional Perspectives on Emotional AI

L.C. Singh, the founder and executive chairman of Nihilent Limited, said the company spent years studying how emotions affect thinking, deciding, relating, and living.

He stated that the tool helps people become aware of their feelings. He believes technology should help humans understand themselves rather than replace that understanding.

Dr. Vihang Vahia, a professor emeritus of psychiatry and consultant psychiatrist, noted that emotional understanding usually depends on what a person can recognise, articulate, report, or describe.

He described the move toward objectivity as an important development. He mentioned that having an insight into an emotional state is a useful starting point for wellness.

The app allows users to understand the emotion, respond to it, reflect on the resulting change, and observe the outcome. This creates a continuing cycle of awareness, intervention and reflection, helping individuals engage more consciously with their emotions rather than merely naming how they feel.

Nihilent Limited intends to make emotional self-awareness more actionable. The company wants people to recognize emotions as they arise, engage with them consciously, and develop a more balanced relationship with their emotional lives.
