Google is expanding its health-tracking capabilities with a new partnership and a series of updates to its wearables and health app. The company announced a multiyear deal with Flo Health, a digital women’s health platform, alongside new features in Google Health designed to integrate reproductive, metabolic, and clinical data.
The collaboration will allow users to sync their menstrual cycle data with wearable metrics like resting heart rate, heart rate variability, and skin temperature. Google Health Premium subscribers can also incorporate Flo’s insights into the app’s Gemini-powered health coach, creating a unified view of health across different life stages—from periods to pregnancy and perimenopause.
Google and Flo will also work on research focused on conditions like perimenopause, pregnancy, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), and postpartum recovery. The partnership includes a strategic investment in Flo, reflecting Google’s commitment to women’s health tools.
Separately, Google is enhancing its Health Guardian suite with new features for Fitbit wearables. The update adds an insulin resistance trends tool that analyzes data from devices like heart rate, movement, and skin temperature to estimate changes in insulin resistance. Users will receive monthly alerts if trends suggest rising resistance, along with suggestions to review lifestyle habits or consider a continuous glucose monitor.
Google is also improving its health data integrations. U.S. users can now connect Abbott’s Lingo CGM to view trends alongside meals, workouts, and sleep. Clinical lab results from Function, a whole-body health company, will be importable later this fall. Additionally, MyFitnessPal Premium subscribers can share detailed food logs with Google Health.
Google is further expanding automatic activity detection to recognize over 100 activities across Fitbit Air, Fitbit Edge, and Pixel Watch models 3, 4, and 5. These updates will roll out later this month.
