The precision health firm Viome has purchased the synbiotics and medical foods business Sōlaria Biō. This merger unites Viome’s microbiome data with Sōlaria’s exclusive discovery system and biobank to create personalized nutrition solutions.

Naveen Jain, founder and CEO of Viome, says the company has been helping people learn what’s happening inside their bodies for a decade. Jain believes true personalization is the key to improving overall health and longevity.

Viome plans to raise the standard of efficacy in the supplement space by creating products that meaningfully improve health based on individual needs. Bōndia, Sōlaria Biō‘s lead product, will become a part of Viome’s offerings as the company’s first product that does not require a Viome test.

Bōndia has been clinically studied for the dietary management of bone loss, where it was evaluated as SBD111. Another addition to Viome from Sōlaria Biō‘s portfolio, SBD21, is currently being developed for joint health.

Viome is known for its RNA-based diagnostic testing and precision nutrition recommendations. The company uses RNA sequencing to decode the events within a person’s microbiome, providing a starting point for personalized nutrition and supplements.

Bōndia is built on Sōlaria Biō’s biobank, which includes more than 5,700 bacterial and fungal isolates. In a previous clinical trial, Bōndia demonstrated a reduction in femoral bone loss of 84.5% in women with lower than normal bone density.

Eric Schott, co-founder and COO of Sōlaria Biō, comments that the company’s mission has always been to address health concerns at their earliest stages. By combining Viome’s ability to decode the body’s unique biological signals with Sōlaria’s plant-derived microbial discovery engine, they can help people recognize emerging health needs sooner and respond with precision.

The platform will strengthen Viome’s product pipeline, combining 10 years of gut intelligence with plant genome discovery. This will enable the company to turn biological data into targeted health solutions, offering clinically validated solutions that support people from the first signs of change in their health.

The acquisition of Sōlaria Biō has added Bōndia and SBD21 to Viome’s portfolio.
